Why We Built This Site
Public access does not place every Fayette County record in one database. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office maintains current jail information and locally held sheriff records. The Fayette Circuit Clerk keeps electronically imaged Circuit and District proceedings, including Criminal, Traffic, Juvenile, and Warrants divisions. For statewide personal history review, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Criminal Records Identification Unit uses fingerprints and identification rather than an unrestricted public name search. State prison custody belongs to the Alabama Department of Corrections, while registry searches run through the Alabama Sex Offender Registry. Bringing these official routes together makes it easier to choose the correct source without mistaking one record type for another.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference resource with no connection to a Fayette County office, Alabama court, police department, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We do not retrieve an official criminal history or conduct an agency background check
- We cannot submit an expungement petition, public-records request, or court filing for a reader
- We do not issue certified court documents, arrest reports, or criminal-history records
- We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, disposition, or eligibility for relief
- We cannot promise that a government office's hours, fee, or contact details will never change
An official copy must come from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, the proper court, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, or another office that created and maintains the record.
Search Partners
Some search boxes are supplied by outside providers. Each provider operates its own service, controls its result set, and chooses any price it charges. A referral fee may be earned if a tool leads a visitor to purchase a provider's service, which helps fund free access to the reference content. Fayette County Criminal History does not control a partner's fees or the information returned through its search product.
